Community invited to provide input for high-speed internet in Markle
Markle, Ind., – Huntington and Wells County Economic Development organizations, in conjunction with Markle Chamber of Commerce, will host an informational meeting from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 14. The meeting is meant to engage the residents of the Town of Markle about the potential to provide fiber high-speed internet to the Markle community. The session will be held at the Markle Fire Department, 150 W. Sparks Street, Markle. Input gathered at the meeting will help guide the Town of Markle on future steps to be taken toward broadband connectivity.
Bart Bretsch, President of Yates Engineering Services, will present findings from a recently completed Feasibility Study performed for the Town of Markle. The survey was commissioned by the Markle Town Council at their August 15 meeting to determine the estimated cost and feasibility to build a high-speed internet system to business and residential areas of the town.
In addition to the presentation, the group intends to provide information on:
- Broadband service features that would impact subscribers
- Timing and prioritizations of broadband
- Broadband, property values, and economic growth
The group intends to conduct a survey of the residents of Markle to gauge interest in connectivity to high-speed internet services. Survey collection will begin following the information session.
Survey information and feedback from this session will be used guide the Chamber and EDCs in next steps in cooperation with the Markle Town Council.
